Clams in nano tanks

I have two maximas in my 25 IM Lagoon, they are smaller little ones and I actively feed them live phyto..

I think its totally possible to house clams in nano tanks just all about making sure your numbers are in check and stable!

I don’t feed mine at all they grew fine. My smallest clams are Crocea and they are just over 1 inch. They grew two layers is scutes already over the last 2 months or so

What size tank do you have them in?

Do ittttt I have a gorgeous maxima in my 20 gallon under AI Prime HD. It’s just fine, make sure calcium levels stay high and the tank is stable!

These clams are so gorgeous I'm definitely gonna get one somewhere in the future just wondering if the small clams are harder to keep than the bigger ones I've heard that before.

I don’t think small clams are any more difficult than large ones. If you’re buying online/lfs I’d try to go with a small one because it’s more likely to have been aquacultured. Wild clams don’t happen very often nowadays but if you buy a clam from LFS that’s over about 4” and you’re the first owner, I would be suspicious. I don’t know any aquaculture facilities that keep baby clams until they’re over 3”.

PacificEastAquaculture is a great place to start looking :). Personally, I prefer to buy at LFS because clams often look different in photos and they don’t reflect the true beauty of the clam.

Thank you I'm probably just going to buy from my lfs and go for a smaller one likely because it cheaper and more likely to be captive bred.

Bright light and adequate cal alkalinity is all they need with adequate nutrients in the water I guess. I never feed mine. I do have. Numbers of fish in my system.
Clams always looks better top down. With adequate light. The brighter the better. You cannot over lighted a Crocea or Maxima ( with the normal reef set up) that we use.

Wow, wonderful clams, my wife really wants, if the tank are stable by Christmas, may be one of her gifts. I am guessing we may end up with more than one.
