Easiest are Maxima
If wild caught, you want to check for inner crab and no signs of pyrmaid snails which are tulip shaped

I’d be snatching that last clam ASAP. The other two are nice but that last one is truly the cherry on top.

well, he got 8 of this beauties :)

But I do have crazy flow and limited space in my tank.. So i dont know..
Plus, he wants 199 for one.. is that a normal price?

They look great. I’d do 1 or 3. If he’s a friend Mayb u have some room to negotiate. I’m sure he will still profit and u can get deal.
for how much do these clams sell in the US?
I have never kept a clam (well I did actually but that was 12years ago)

Ill find out if he has other gems

Price ranges based on color and size. Small basic color maximas can start around $80 for a 2" clam, add in crazy colors and the price goes up fast. Crocea and maxima are not beginner clams, but that doesn't mean you can't be successful with them. Monitor shell growth and buy James Fatherree's new book on clams. The 1st one and the last one are super cool. I think black in any clam is very cool. And wild caught clams are not easier than cultured clams and come with a host of potential problems, most of which can be eliminated in QT.

I would have a hard time choosing just one but if I had to it would be the last one. Price doesn't seem bad. Run of the mill maximas are running $150ish US dollars for 2-3 inch specimens around my parts. I would love to try another now that I have a par meter and pretty good idea why I failed in the past. Unfortunately I only have one tank with enough light to support one and there is a copperband in there.

The prices are in the park. While cultured, there are not many clams in stock anywhere around me. Larger sizes; there are none. However, a full stock of Euphyllia is everywhere. It's the mode. Clams are not in for the moment.
