How do you take care of clams? Is there any secrets or tricks to maintain these guys?

No tricks really. Best place to put them is the sand bed. Then they will move wherever makes them happy. Give them good lighting, and keep up on your calcium levels etc. And they will do great! One of my favorite organisms out of a reef, the possibilities are endless and same with the colors. I also believe you get what you payed for unlike those booger chalice grads you posted about earlier! They may not grow out and become 'fraggable' but as I said before I think they are extremely beautiful and unique. Also no name game involved with them thank god!!

I found that if you have adequate light and a stable system these guys seem to be fairly easy to maintain. I know alot of people say they just filter for food in the tank but i use a brightwell filter feeding food for clams. I guess its just that piece of mind knowing their not starving lol.

Just ordered one and will get it sat. I have leds so maybe i will have good luck.

So have I and would love to be updated in your progress!

(sorry Squishie, this is the second forum where I have piggy-backed you.. hope you don't mind!)

Well you live close enough to me for that to be okay, Melissa =P Plus us saltwater ladies need to stick together!

Can't wait to see some pictures of your new Clam.

I just bought one last week (Crocea) at a Frag Swap last week ... it does seem weird to not have to target feed it like I do some corals.
