I have these 2 pretty large clams. About 5-6 inches each.

My friend says if they die and I don't realize it in time then it can cause a large spike in ammonia.

Should I pull them off now and remove them to avoid it? Or should i keep them?

That would not be a worry of mine unless the clams die in a small unestablished tank. Typically the CUC makes quick work of the remains.

Yea if you have any scavengers in your cuc they will let you know long before the clam rots

Do they look like they're in bad shape? Do you not have the correct lighting? If they look good and you have the right lighting, just keep them and enjoy. If they do die and your CUC doesn't completely get them, you should have time to remove them before they cause any issues.

You should send them to me!

They won't bother anything as long as you pull them out soon enough "within a day of death".

What type of clam are they? I get the sense they are not Tridacna clams. Either way I would leave them.

Tom
