I've been in the salt water world for almost 40 years. I've seen a lot of thinks come and go and I've tried most of them. I've had as many as 18 tanks at my peak. We were fragging before it was fragging. But we sold out and moved to Florida. I decided to do another tank. A red sea reefer 625. Its been up and running for two years. One thing I'm not happy with is the sump. Overall just a basic sump with just an easy DIY plumbing. It has a poor layout over all. The only thing I do like about it is the gravity fed ATO. Which works great as long as it is filled with RO water only. Add any additives and you will be taking it apart and cleaning twice a month. I believe in simple. Less work and more enjoyment. I've decided to get a new sump. I'm going back to the set up I've done previous. The catch is I'm thinking of adding an auto filter roller. After 40 years of changing and cleaning socks the an auto filter seems like a good change. Get rid of the nutrients before they break down. No more cleaning socks. Sounds great. That said I like my system to be stress free. Over all it is. But after reading many threads about the roller not working proper. I'm not sure I want to mess with it. I'm sure there are many out there who are happy with it. I'm half tempted to just stay with my filter socks. Any thoughts
