I have the Gen 2 roller filter. For those that don't have a sump yet, it sure as hell helps a ton to buy a sump designed specifically around the Clarisea roller filter... and Geo's reef R series is probably the best...maybe the only? I will say this though...even with a sump specifically designed for the Clarisea 2, the filter is still temperamental and locks out and gives alarms several times a week. You just unplug the power and turn it back on. After living with a roller filter I cannot imagine ever going back to filter socks. It also removes so much organics that my protein skimmer mainly only serves to aerate the water and increase redox potential.
