Clarisea Auto Roller Filter

I’ve had my 5000 about 4 months, and love love love it. I built an acrylic rectangle 5 sides about 4x5. So it sits in about 3 inches of water. I was using a roll a week for the first month. I have dual overflows, and tee’d the drains into the clarisea.
With 1 and 1/4 inch drains unrestricted , that’s over 1600 gph to the T. Not sure what goes into the filter after the T, but its too much. I changed the setup to one drain to the filter, and one to the sump (next to clarisea-same chamber)
Now I’m using 1 roll every 14-18 days. Tank is crystal clear. I keep a very clean tank, wish I had room for 2.
For you critics, I acknowledge the fudge water level is way low. I was doing some plumbing when this pic was taken. lol

Thanks for the help, We will see how it goes. I just cut some 2" PVC and made legs to put under what I already had in there. I will need to glue them down or get some acrylic to make legs for it.

Here is what Tech Support at D D The Aquarium Solution said:

As a general rule the higher you can get the Clarisea out of the water the better, this way more water will be above the sump water level and putting head pressure against the fleece thus improving its efficacy.

Set the unit so the slotted pipe at the bottom is just under the sump water level, this way the unit wont make splashing noises when you fit a new fleece due to the slotted pipe being above water but by the same token will be as high as it can be out of the sump water.

In theory you could have the unit so the bottom of it is just sitting on the sump water level but as I say that will make the unit noisy especially after loading a new fleece.

I guess this has happened to some other people. They have a solution and are sending me a roller to add to the unit to flatten it out and keep it from folding on its self. I got to be one of the few to have this issue. :)

Everything was going great and my phosphates have dropped with this unit but now it locks up all the time and I have to manually pull the dirty side to get the new fleece. I can not figure out what is sticking to make this happen. Support is having me try several things without luck. :(

One, pull the motor and be sure a wheel didn’t come off or the screw stripped.
How easy does the fleece pull? A piece of rock or coral can get stuck in the rollers at the bottom. I’ve experienced both situations.

It turns out the new motor they sent me also needed a different driveshaft and screw. I am working with a temp solution until the parts can be sent to me.

Also the XL roller is not recommended and it sounds like they will not be selling them anymore.

Marinelife, is this what they are no longer recommending/selling?

Those are the ones a lot of people are reporting issues with. Not sure if they will stop selling fully or what they end plan is. They are still testing.

I’ve been having the issue of folding as well, with both xl and the original one. I was running the water level right below the by pass lever and it’s starts folding with in 2 days.
I just lowered the unit so the water levels runs an inch above the second screw. It’s been 3 days and so far no issues. You still having the folding issue? If not how did you solve it?
Thanks

Contact support about the folding issue, they will send you a roller that will go close to the top of the dirty side.
