Classic 57watt uv

I recently purchased a classic 57watt uv from brs
And I have also purchased a 3170gph return pump but I’m only getting 600gph on max speed. I’ve read online that someone was running a 20000 Jebao and was only getting 1000gph on max speed what is a good return pump that will be able to push 2000gph+

Why do you need 2000Gph+ through your 57-watt UV? I have a Sicce SDC 6.0 that pushes ~633Gph through my 57-watt Classic UV to achieve a higher sterilization level. Depending on what you want out of your UV, you only need 1,066Gph for parasite control.

I spoke with aqua ultraviolet this week and they said that I needed a pump that’ll push more than 1000+. anything less than that will start to kill beneficial bacteria and that I shouldn’t run it all the time at 1000gph that I would either have to turn it off for a period of time or have it ramp up to atleast 2000gph so it would mess with the beneficial bacteria

*Update*
With about 5ft of 2in pvc and the Jebao 20000 I’m at 50% I’m pushing 1800gph

60x60=3600/2sec=1800gph

ultra violet said that it didn’t matter if it was a 3/4 or 2in that water flow was still going to be the same.
Well they were f’ing wrong I tried with the 3/4 in at max speed and I was barely getting over 700gph

I have the same UV and run my return plumbing through it at only approx 400gph. I use it for parasite control and trust me it wont kill off your pods or anything else. Bio diversity is doing just fine in my tank.

Over a year. About to change the bulb actually. Previously did the same with a 40w aqua UV classic also for a few years before I went to the 57w.

Parasite control is max 1.5x the volume of your system. Obviously uv size has some to do with it also. But simplified you want a slower flow for parasites and can increase flow for algae and bacteria up to 5x. Putting 1.5x through a 9w uv on a larger tank isn't going to do much of anything. This is where I don't remember what wattage for what gallon size is. I had a dual 40w so basically 80w on my system years ago. I ran 400gph through it focusing on parasite control. Flow rate was recommended by aqua uv, sounds like you got someone who didn't know what they were talking about.

My return is plumbed through it. Out the return pump, through the uv and up into the display.

I was mostly referring to the fact that a 3/4 or 2" flow would be the same. That's obviously not correct. But that high flow still isn't correct. Well maybe if your tank is 5 or 10 gallons and you don't mind most of the water being in your uv.....
For the uv to damage the dna the algae or parasite has to be in contact with the light for x amount of time. Sending it through the uv 50 times in a minute at top speed doesn't do the same as sending through once for a minute.
I don't doubt they gave you that info. I'm unsure why though. Did they think you were treating green water in a pond? Their recommendation may work for that.
I've seen threads here on flow rates for various controls. Brs has recommended flow rates also. You should be able to come to a better reality quite easily.
