One of the outlets is not functioning correctly, so I was thinking of upgrading the Apex to the latest version. What would be the advantages over the Classic version?

Some of the benefits of the new apex is WiFi controllable right out of the box, no need for a module. Added salinity probe, and maximum number of modules you can attach to it jumps substantially from 29 to 240.
But ultimately it'd be your call, you can also check and see if there is anyone selling a used EB8 board on the forum, otherwise I believe they can still be gotten from BRS for around $160.00

If you are DIY handy, and the issue with your EB8 is a fried TRIAC, there is a fix.....check out this thread:

Thanks. I have noticed that my Kessil 380 was not illuminated, so I checked the programming status and everything looked ok. If I unplug the cord from the eb8 and plug back in you can hear a click inside the eb8 and the light will come on. It will only stay on for about a couple of minutes, then the light will go off.

Well, first you have to troubleshoot some more and make sure it’s the eb8 and not the kessil. Can you plug something else into the outlet and see what happens?

Buying a whole new apex system instead of just replacing the eb8 is a big jump in cost. You can always use the eb8 down the road if you upgrade to the new apex. And instead of replacing, just add the new eb8. The other 7 outlets work. I have 1 eb832 and 2 eb8s going on my main apex system right now. If you know you want Trident, then you may as well upgrade now.

Thanks, I haven't had time to troubleshoot because of work lately, but I did look at it this evening. The problem is that light, it is shorting out. I have contacted Kessil and they are sending a replacement. Thanks for the help.
