I was trying to get my socks to come out white. I was soaking in bleach water for a weak. The socks looked like they just came out of the sump. After soaking for the weak. So I soaked them in Citric Acid for a weak. Now they look like I just picked them at the lfs.

It sounds like you have found one of the many ways to clean filter socks. Other approaches include wash machine, hose, utility sink, and pressure washer.

Here is a link to an R2R thread that discusses this topic even more. Good luck!

I prewash them in the sink to get the really bad stuff out, then throw in the washer on a express cycle/extra rinse/heavy soil level and no bleach. Spin dry and then store.

I just rinse all the chunks out sock stays off white or brownish but its clean. I let it air dry and reuse. I dont mind the off white. I dont see it anyway. I also take my socks out and switch every day.
