CLEAN UP CREW CONSPIRACY

All my clean up crew disappear constantly. Shouldn't they last longer? Who is doing this? I have a Hippo Tang and a Puffer but I never see anyone ever messing with the hermits or snails.

Puffers are known for taking out clean up crew members, so that could be the culprit. Did you use live rock or dry rock? If you used live rock, you could have a hitchhiker that’s killing it. What inverts do you have in the tank?

I only have dry rock. What kind of hitchhiker could it be? I had hermit crabs and a few different types of snails.

Hermits will kill other hermits and snails for shells. They are all likely getting killed by rouge hermits.

I vote for the puffer. He’s not going to eat them in front of you because he still wants you to think hes hungry so you feed him again

I was thinking of a mantis shrimp or maybe a gorilla crab when I said hitchhiker. If you only used dry rock, then I don’t think you would have anything like that. It’s probably either a hermit or a your puffer.
