I'm about ready to add a clean up crew to my new tank. I'm going through the new tank nasty stage, so I'm thinking it's time to start a crew. In the past, I have purchased a "ready made" crew from Reefcleaners. I was marginally satisfied with that. Nothing wrong with what I received, but did not seem diverse enough. I have mixed feelings on crabs....I kind of like them however don't care for some of their behavior. I like snails, but sometimes they too can be problematic.

The tank will ultimately be SPS dominant and it's dimensions are that of a 40B yet only 15" high. Total system volume is about 55 gallons.

So, what are your opinions on the matter? What other animals will assist in keeping the sand bed and glass clean that are more enjoyable to see than snails? I welcome your opinions.

I have a fighting conch that does a good job of stirring the sand. I don't have any problems with it. I hope that helps

i personally like the turbo snails and margarita snails i dont mind my hermit crabs so much but if you want something to keep your bed stirred get a cuc or a sand sifting goby
