Its not meant to be an oxymoron but can you have a CUC in a FOWLR tank?
long spine urchins?
Mexican turbo snails?
giant hermits?

anything work aside from tech and a tang

Unless you have a fish that will eat inverts (hawkfish, puffers, etc.) I see no problem with it. It’s all personal preference really, but I think it’s a FOWLR until you get coral/nems.

It'll depend on the species of fish. I gave up a while ago for my fowlr. It has a lionfish, dogface puffer, and a Humu trigger in it. They eat everything.

trig is on the list- thats why i was thinking longspine urchin.

Also have a biota yellow tang and blueline angel coming

possibly blue spotted puffer or dogface or spiny- uncertain i have a bad track record with puffers: fresh, brackish and salt.

Possibly an indigo or shy hamlet and harlequin tusk or betta too. tanks cycling possibilities are endless lol

I have a lot of snail and shrimp eating fish but I have found some still do well. My CUC is serpent stars, tuxedo and rock urchins, and mexican turbos. And look ma no algae!

125. Maybe not the best picture because you can’t see my invert eating eels but so far that CUC has survived them and my not reef safe wrasse.

Nice! I was considering but I think the bioload would be too much considering how big most of my fish will get. Such a beautiful creature though.
