So after almost a year, I'm adding a fresh clean up crew to the tank. Just a snail crew to offset what I still have in the tank. I ordered from Reef Cleaners which is a well known cleaner crew vendor.

Is there anyway to QT snails prior to the DT? I know the risk of disease on snails is very low but I feel I finally have a very stable disease free environment. I know copper is out for them but should I prazi them? Scrub the shells? Not worry about it?

A invert QT tank, no fish, ~75 days in QT no meds. That said Reef Cleaners has fish free systems, should be good to add immediately
Thanks for the reply so essentially a fallow period in a snail only QT tank.

I don’t have any experience with reef cleaners.. I get mine from a LFS that has them in a fishless system but no guarantee they were in there for more the 75 days and the vendor they got them from did the same. I run a coral and invert only QT. I’m super risk adverse by personality though.;)

Yes... you can do it in 6 weeks if you maintain a constant temp of 80.6. I’m doing the 76 days though because I don’t trust my heater.

Much of what RC sells is captive bred by the owner in the systems w/ no additions in significant time periods. If you're buying CUC RC/John is the "safest" bet

I've bought from him when I first got the tank going but after an early battle with brook, I am just overly cautious now. Things have been going well for my fish now for the past 4 months after I stopped using Maine Collectors for my fish QT purchase. Almost everything I would get from them would die within a few days. I use my local LFS now who does their own in house QT and every fish acquired from them is thriving.

Marine Pleasures is a company that states all inverts are quarantined in a fishless system for 76-90 days before being sold to anyone. I haven't ordered from them, so I cant provide experience. But maybe someone here has?

When I get new cleanup crew, I usually do toss in my qt system for a month or two first. Depends on the animal. My qt is a system that has been running for over 5 years and is very full and stable. I just do not have any fish in it. So, it makes a great coral and invert qt. IT is a grow out system also.
