Whats up guys!? I just set up my 36 gallon tanks yesterday and have dry rock in it. How long should I wait until its good to put the clean up crew into the tank ? I was told around 3 weeks, I just want to hear others thoughts, thanks!

When you get ready to put them in, acclimate slowly maybe with a drip. IME they're pretty delicate initially.

I've personally never done the drip method, setting up a new tank three weeks sounds about right. Have you had a tank before? do you know the process of letting the nitrates and ammonia spike before adding anything?

I haven't but yes I was told 3 weeks & yeah I know about the levels of the ammonia & nitrate. Just hearing out what other ppl do, thanks for your help!

I tend to err on the side of caution and not make any timeline guesses... I check my readings, wait for the spike, then wait again for a ZERO ammonia, nitrite reading. Depending on the tank it could be three weeks or more. One tank took 7 weeks to establish a good enough bacteria ratio. I used less live rock in that start up maybe that was why? Nevertheless it's always better to start out right so you don't have to do any guesswork as to where you went wrong:-)

awesome thanks for the advice, and yeah that can play a vital role because live rock takes bit longer compared to dry rock
