This is what I use for the tough stuff (with a 4inch blade) about once a month. Every few days I use the tunze scraper, forgot the exact name

tunze long or strong. can use with plastic scraper or add metal scraper. with its design, no sand can get trapped under it and scratch your glass. And its more than strong enough to clean coraline or even encrusting corals that grows on the glass. I tried many type and shape of scraper, and I am totally sold to tunze.

2 inches above the sand line = Mag Float. Below that, just use a razor blade or blow the sand back a little bit and use your hand to use the mag float to clean the dirty side.
