Hi
Was just wondering if anyone has ever had an alk spike from cleaning out their refugium?
I have been running triton core 7 on a brand new system for the past 3 months and started out with alk fluctuating between 6.7 and 7.2 until i got it stable at 7.1 where it has sat for the past 2-3 weeks with very little fluctuation.
On friday i tested and it was 7.1. As i have tested every day since the beginning i thaught i might stop and do it twice a week now things are stable.
On sunday i decided to clean out the refugium for the first time as there was a lot if hair algae building up.
Come today i tested alk and it has shot up to 8.9.
I have no idea how this has happened, im wondering if its because my dosing pump is fed into the refugium and cheato may have trapped some alk solution which was released during cleaning.

Anyone had a similar issue to this or can shead some light on what may have happened?

All i can think is low flow in the fuge caused the alk to build up and your cleaning released it...
Could add more flow to the fuge or dose in another section.

This is all i came up with also. Might add a powerhead to fuge as i will have to change out my dosing tubes for longer lengths if i moved it.

cheers mate
