Hi there, I was wondering if there's another shrimp that would clean fish and always be out and is reef safe. My lfs is selling cleaner shrimp for a outrageous $50.

This isn't a cleaner shrimp but I bought a neon cleaner goby who is a very effective parasite cleaner. It also eats flake, pellets and frozen food just like all my other fish. I got mine from KP Aquatics pretty reasonably priced but unless you are interested in other coral or inverts the shipping brings the price pretty high for just one item.

Not an invert but you can get a cleaner wrasse, they are completely reef safe (for the most part) and are very out and about active fish. You can also just order a cleaner shrimp cheap for something like live aquaria or saltwater.com.

I've never considered it. I never ever bought online before. I'll see if I can squeeze some more money. Also will banded coral shrimp work?

They are not going to clean anything like a cleaner shrimp or cleaner wrasse would and they can be aggressive to other inverts sometimes but you can have one if you want.

Honestly, just buy the cleaner shrimp for $50. Yeah it's a bit over priced, but it's good to support local and sounds like the cleaner shrimp is right up your alley. I love mine even though he's very lazy and cleans not a lot now-a-days (mostly just steals food from coral!)

Ok, is there any cheap shrimp that is out and about that is nice
Skunk Cleaner shrimp, peppermint shrimps, pistol shrimps and there is also fire cleaner shrimps which are definitely the prettiest but they will usually run you 50-80 bucks depending where you get it from.

Not a bad price in my local.
Skunk worth the price, get larger quickly so size don’t matter.
Beware of adding Hawkfish, or they are quickly consumed.

Seek elsewhere - Its the store and not cost of cleaners which by me are $29.99

I would definitely get the skunk cleaner shrimp. Ive had the coral banded and fire both rather reclusive. The skunks are always out and about and will clean your hand when it’s in the tank. I currently have both the skunk, tons of personality, and the fire, beautiful.

Skunk cleaner would be you best bet, I paid $40 for mine but this guy is always out, cleans everything including me when I'm working in the tank. Coral banded is reclusive and are know to eat your invertebrates.

You can get one from live aquaria for only 20 bucks.
They are $25.00 from LiveAquaria + taxes and $39.98 for overnight shipping...
