What can cause a cleaner shrimp to die. I bought two cleaner shrimp from my lfs, since they keep the same parameters as my tank all I did was temp aclmate them. They were doing good for three days toll one molted and then mysteriously died two or three days later I found my second one dead. Any ideas?

I've never had problems keeping cleaner shrimp but i've read they are pretty sensitive when acclimating.

I always do a 30 min drip acclimation.

I've also heard that they are hardy and easy to care for which is why I was surprised when they died as I have seahorses in the tank and they are more sensitive lol

You shouldn’t only temp acclimate anything, even if you just scoop a cup of water into the bag every every so often for 15 minutes while it’s floating it’s much better. You have to remember that these animals are sensitive to pH, temp, oxygen levels, alkalinity, etc.

What's the best way to maintain the temp? I'm new to marine tanks so it's a learn as I go kinda thing at the expense of my wallet

Normally i just wrap the bag in a towel so its a little insulated. If you have a sump you can slip the bag in the sump and drip acclimate while its floating in there.

That's not a bad idea I usually just temp acclimate by sticking the bag through my feeding spot (seen in the pic) but that would not work for drip acclimating

FWIW nearly all of my fish come from LFS.
I temp acclimate the bag by floating it for 20 minutes and then use the hydrometer to keep adding small amounts of water to the bag every few minutes until the bag is close to full.
Empty out most of the water and do it again.
Sometimes I'll do that a third time with really sensitive things like most inverts.

Tried drip acclimation in a 5 gallon bucket on the floor a few times but it feels like the water turns almost to ice in the meantime.
