I’m not sure what happened to him, we went on vacation for 3 days and came back and he was like this..just sitting on the sand leaning on his side, his legs and antenna look shriveled up or injured? Water parameters are good? He is still eating, moving his legs and arms but it’s more like twitching? But when I fed him he perched up and ate then just laid back down?? Is there anything I could do to help him?

Most likely not. Depending on how old he is... He also could have been attacked by another fish.

+1 on the aging out. that’s exactly what mine did the night he met his maker. I wish they lived longer but apparently 2-3 years is pretty typical. Side note, but is your salinity always in the .028 range or was that a swing up?

Just a swing up it’s usually stays at 1.025, so it looks like he probably just reached his age limit?

There is nothing else in the tank except an emerald crab, starfish and some snails so unless he got into with the crab which I doubt it the stay on opposite end of the tank. I’ve o my had him for about 2 months? Still possible he could have reached his age limit I guess though

Inverts are very sensitive to swings. So that is likely be the culprit now that I read it’s fairly young. see if a WC can get you down to .027 then wait 24 hrs and get it down to .026. Hopefully he’s still alive by then.

I’ve only had him for about 2 months, is it possible to purchase one from the LFS that is already a few years old?

Thank you for the help! I’m on it now! Hopefully I can save the little guy!

you might want to check your ATO to be sure it’s working. If your salinity swung up while you were away thats usually an indication that it didn’t get any RO water to replace the evaporation. And to go up .03 in 3 days means there was a lot of evaporation happening.

fingers crossed for Mr Shrimp!

If he’s less than 2weeks in your system ,I can’t see belly, but mine “twitch” to toss off eggs hidden underneath.

Found out what happened and posted a new thread. Sorry I’m still figuring out how to use this site. But he molted and lost several of his legs if you reply back use the other thread please so I don’t have 2 for the same thing
