Cleaner Shrimp in Tank Less Than 2 Minutes

Had the new cleaner shrimp Maquire (named after the car wax) was in the tank less than 2 minutes and Hobbes wanted to be “cleaned”. He must have been exposed to a cleaner shrimp in the wild??

Not uncommon even if he never "met" a cleaner shrimp before. There must be a natural intuition, or they give off a "I want to eat your dead skin and parasites" vibe

I think they advertise their cleaning services through movements which are referred to as a "rocking dance", probably what keeps them alive instead of being on the menu more times than not as well.

Mine always does this and someone will go up to him to be cleaned (Usually either the CBB, Magnificent Fox or the Twin Spot Tang). It’s an interesting thing to witness.

Fish have an instinctive reaction to cleaner animals, even if they've never seen one before. It's why cleaner shrimp have such distinctive antennae and motions, it trips that response. Cool, huh?
