Cleaner Shrimp Making A Mess

I got my cleaner shrimp a couple weeks ago. I didn't notice this prior to getting him so I think he is the one that is making the mess. There are these reddish/brownish spots on the the sand and on the glass. Is this normal?

I have pics of this but it's hard to see.

Your shrimp isn't causing it. Take a pic with only the white lights on.
It's most likely diatoms or another algae.
Looks like a very new tank.

It is a relatively new tank.
