Looks like molt to me too. The shrimp usually hides for a day or three after molting. So don't be surprised if you don't see it right away.

If a shrimp becomes a casualty, you are much more likely to find a body somewhere in the corner of the tank or in rock work, then a free-floating shell.

They are not picky, they would eat everything including the shell. Good source of calcium.

Lol - yeah nothing quite prepares you for the husk floating by.

Your CUC will eat it pretty quickly. I had to pull very little out of the tank during my water change/ cleaning. So if there is a hunk caught somewhere don’t worry about it.
