I have this wrasse and for some reason it developed this whole on the side it looks like a bite but it developed over time.

Tank mates:

Pair of maroons,
Lawnmower
Smithy blenny
Purple fire fish
Bangaii
Yellow watchman Goby
Skunk shrimp
Snails and hermits
1 Emerald crab

I am currently dosing Melafix because my yellow watchman developed a really big sore probably from the cleaner shrimp

It looks like he's got a bacterial infection, probably brought on by an injury. Best course of action would be to get him into QT and treat with a combo of metroplex, kanaplex, and furan-2. Do you have a picture of the goby's wound? He could very well have an infection as well and need treatment.

So Melafix is not good for bacterial infections then?

Here's the watchman

Oi yeah get them out and into QT asap. You'll need those three meds to successfully treat this. It's not that melafix is not a good med, it's just not enough for this type of situation.

+1 There is some anecdotal evidence that Melafix (and other herbal remedies) might help with a mild, gram positive infection.

But for serious or gram negative bacterial infections... dosing proper antibiotics & giving antiseptic baths is the way to go.

^ I was going to say, an acriflavine bath for these two might be a good idea as well.
