Hello, I Have a 210 with dual megaflow overflow systems. They are stopping to slow down tremendously. They need to be cleaned. I'm trying to figure out a easy way to pull these apart. I did not glue them together but they have have not been cleaned in 10 years. Any ideas without draining the tank or a easier way to clean these out?

I have recently done this. This is how I did it.

I left my return pumps going and drained about 5 gallons of tank water from the main display. This lowered my sump level. Make sure heaters, ATO ETC ARE OFF. You don’t want to have heaters exposed or ATO keep filling.

Once this was done I shut off the return pump/pumps and allowed water to go into the sump as usual but it doesn’t fill as far because I removed some water.

Then I pulled the drain out of one side and cleaned it. The water in the overflow box will go to the sump. Replaced the cleaned drain and did the same thing on the other side.

Returned the drained water to the tank and started it back up.

You could also do this entire process during a water change following the same basic order.

You just need to make sure you have enough space in the sump for the water from the overflows.
