What is the best way to clean a new tank and system. I'm getting ready to get a new system up and going. should I run my system with plain water or maybe some vinegar mixed in to wash out the newly glued pvc pipes and other new equipment before I start adding my live rock and sand?

You don't have to clean a new system like this per say... But what you can do is soak your skimmer in 1/3 vinegar to 2/3 water solution and run the skimmer in that to help break it in.. you can also wipe the tank down with rubbing alcohol since it evaporates very quickly or just rinse everything out with RO water and you can fill the tank with Freshwater to check for any leaks in the plumbing and to make sure everything is running smoothly and effectively.

Thanks. I was planning on doing a wet run with plain water to leak and function check it anyway so I guess that will work

Once the bond cures ( like 2 mins ) PVC is done you couldnt clean out anything but the shavings stuck in the pipe , I have setup alot of systems and just did the plumbing , filled with water, added salt and then let her rip just did this on my own 5 tank system at my house , if its all new stuff I dont see the need , but I do add sand first , then put a pot in there to pour water into to to fill the tank , this will save hours of cloudiness
