Is there anyway to clean out a previously used reptile aquarium for Saltwater use.

I have always heard your better off just getting a new tank. I believe the urine soaks into the silicone so unless you replace that there is nothing you can do. Never actually tried it myself though.

Just clean the tank using what you would normally use to clean with. The main concern is whether the tank was an aquarium that was used as a reptile tank, or if it is truly a reptile tank. Generally a reptile tank is made from thinner glass and may or may not have a center brace. As long as it's a true aquarium, I wouldn't have any concerns.

reptiles do not urinate. they secrete solid white uretes. however typically the glass is made of thinner stock, silicone seams aren't as good because they arent meant to hold water. it usually says so on the tank.

It's a 40 gallon breeder. I haven't seen a difference when it comes to a breeder tank. Anyone else know?
