So I bought a used 90 gallon bow front with a sump, but before I start to cycle or do anything at all, I want to clean everything thoroughly. What is the best way to do so, what can I use to get all the calcium off, and without hurting the eventual fish/livestock?

Vinegar and razor blades work wonders. If it's glass be careful of the silicone seams if it's acrylic make sure you don't scratch it. Good luck!
hey thanks! do I rinse off the vinegar afterwards? let it dry? the sump is acrylic and I don't mind if it's scratched. the tank itself is glass.

With the vinegar you can do a vinegar/water soak or get a spray bottle and use the vinegar undiluted. Rinse with water after scraping and that's it.
