Cleaning acrylic tank

I got a magnet from Mighty Magnets. At the 1.5" size, I think there are only 2 magnetic cleaner magnets manufacturers to choose from..

Either way, I'm super happy with mightymagnets. Really well made, lasts a long time. They have a floating inner magnet option. Tons of replaceable pads and options. Good stuff. For reference, I have an FF5 on 7/8".

I have an FF-3 and an F-6 from Mighty Magnets. My tank is 1" thick. The 3 is a bit weak but it was purchased for a tank that was thinner. The 6 is a bit of over kill but really works great with the algae scrubber pad to remove coraline. Its best not to let coraline build up on any tank because it will be near impossible to get off. And as always dont let sand get trapped in your pad. Oh and dont let the 2 halves come together without the spacer or you will be hours with putty knives ect trying to get them apart.
As for plastic scrappers with handles, I have 2 and dont use them to clean anymore. I use them to move sand away from the bottom edge before I use the magnet

I haven’t made the plunge for a mighty magnet yet, but I use a regular mag float and the outside netting of a Scotchbrite Dobie pad to clean my tank. Luckily polishing acrylic is pretty easy to do if you ever do scratch it. I’ve since stopped using credit cards to clean the WHOLE tank as it DOES scratch.
