Cleaning an old aquarium with chemicals?

So recently I acquired an old JBJ RL30. I removed the false wall and the black vinyl backing and sides. The tank had lots of old calcium and algae buildup. In order to get everything off including glue residue and the old silicone I used bleach and Goo Gone.

Since then I have used warm water and dish soap to get the initial remnants out. But now I’m wondering what I can use to lift out any remaining toxins and chemicals so the glass is sterile before I start adding sand and rock

Great job cleaning it. I'd rinse the hell out of it, and maybe use vinegar to do a final cleaning and then rinse it thoroughly again.

Thanks. The tank had been sitting in a warehouse for at least 5 years. Had bugs, old sand, lots of salt buildup,trash, etc... sitting in it. The bleach got all the hard algae off, the Goo Gone got the glue and silicone off. Now I need to get the bleach and GooGone out of the tank if there is any left. (Small amounts I’m willing to bet)

Here is what it looked like when I brought it home. I’m planning on doing a full build thread when I get everything.

I would just use RODI Water and vinigar .. that should get rid , just let it soak for a few days !!

Window cleaners use it so i guess it must work .. .. and it worked for me too !!

Sunlight neutralizes chlorine bleach. You could also rinse it out with something like Seachem Prime.
