Cleaning Aquaclear 50?

I want to clean my hob filter/the media but I don't want to lose alot of beneficial bacteria. I just did a water change last night and I'm wondering when and what media I can rinse in a bucket? All I have in the filter is biomax and sponges

As long as you're using tank water you can rinse what you have with no adverse effects. Just don't leave the media out of the water for too long and you'll be just fine

Worst case scenario,just take a few pieces of media out,toss the rest amd seed new media with the few pieces.

In 10+ years I have never once worried about tossing media and replacing it. 85% of your beneficial bacteria is in your rock and sand.
