Hi everyone - any advice on cleaning cyanobacteria (red algae looking stuff) off of the separate circulation pump in my biocube 14? I tried scraping but didn't really work. The pump is about 16 months old.

Also any advice for doing something similar for the heater? Some different algae/bacteria on that as well.

Thanks!

Cyanobacteria is easily removed, I suspect you're seeing Coralline algae, which is much harder to remove.

Soak the power head and heater in a diluted vinegar and water for 30 minutes.

Thanks. The heater cleaned up nicely with the vinegar, but the power head is really encrusted with what I think is corralline algae and ... even an hour of soaking didn't help.
