The question is do you clean brand new equipment like a skimmer or return pump before adding it to an established system. If so, how? Any specific detergents or chemicals?
Opinions are most welcome.[emoji16]

Usually I'll make a mixture of 30% vinegar and 70% water; and let that run through the equipment for roughly 2 to 3 hours. After which, I'll do the same except with rodi water only.
I find it takes away that brand new skimmer smell quickly....

Usually a wipe down with vinegar can’t hurt. Trying to remove the release agent that are used in the molding process to release the part from the mold.
