cleaning corners and silicone

Those of you with larger tanks and use an algae scrapper do you go all the way to the silicone when you clean your glass? like up to the edge or just outside of it so some of the glass isn't cleaned?

Are you a fan of Coralline algae? If so I wouldn't worry about those edges. I have small tanks so a razor blade can work wonders along the silicone, then again it can cause a lot of trouble if you slip. Just get what you can and let nature take it's course. Round those corners off so to say. GL.

Yep this is on my 280 and love it, scrape right up to the edge with no worry.

oh man that sounds nice mine doesn't have that. And after looking it seems some of the silicone has started to fade off from me scraping up to the edge so i guess i should stop doing that?

Scrape up to the silicone but not into it. Use a brush to clean the corner and very edge of the silicone. You really don't want to scrape away the silicone.

Personally I’m afraid of the silicone corners. My corners have a line of coraline along the silicone edge. It looks dumb but my tank is now 18 years old so I’m not touching the silicone.

I avoid silicone and often algae concealed in corners. You can use this type of cleaner which will work in corners

I’d always wanted it, and lucked out with a used tank. Previously, I would just run my Tunze Care scraper along the edges, but angle the handle a bit so that the blade got pretty close enough to the silicone.
