I would like to know how often people clean their powerheads in their aquarium and what do you use if anything to clean them safely?

I just use a brush and warm water.

I clean any where from 3-6 month range..Pull them out soak in vinegar for a day or 2, scrub and rinse well. Power heads will look brand new!

I pull them out every 3 months or so. Depending on how much coraline is on them, and soak them in a 20% vinegar 80% tap water mix. 6 hours or so will do it. then just use a brush to get everything off of them.

Be careful though with the Vinegar as it can eat the coating off of aquarium safe magnets. (vortech etc..)

Whenever they stop working..or the flow isnt strong enough,
Sad I can tell if the flow is less.spend to much time lookking at tank...

Thats funny budman, I was thinking that it could affect the flow overtime but wasn't sure. So it is possible....thank you very much!
