Cleaning filter socks

I run them through a regular washing machine cycle with bleach. Let them dry and use them.

+1 I do similar. I have about 12 for my tank. As they get soiled and clogged, I throw them into an old salt bucket with top to seal in the nice aroma. When I have about 10 in there, I throw them straight into the washer with a 1/2 cup of bleach and make sure I use an extra rinse cycle. I also use hot water and everything comes right off. Then air dry. Once they are dry, they are safe to use again.

Yea kinda smells like the ocean walking in a muddy area..lol

my neighbors think what the heck is that smell..

I rinsed with hot water get the big gunk of and I soak in a vinegar solution for a day and rinse well

I do it by hand. Takes about 15 minutes and looks great/works great

I am the odd ball I take outside and use hose. Wash off sidewalk. Turn inside out. Switch hose sprayer to jet/stream. Spray down on hard sidewalk. Flip. Spray. Turn In side in. repeat. shake dry. And let finish dry inside. Done for years. Works. At First was afraid of getting soap residue on socks. Now just sticking with what works for me.

No you're wrong! ;) jk

just for the record. wash in cold water with ample amount of nonscented bleach and then rinse in hot water. the hot water breaks down and evaporates the chlorine faster when you wash them in hot water you are breaking down the bleach washing in hot water so its not as effective as cold water.

I guess I'm weird but I use hydrogen peroxide....... Just enough to cover the socks in a 5 gallon bucket. I wash about 5 at a time. Let them soak for a couple of hours and then throw in the washing machine cold/cold. No worries or smells from bleach :)

I flip them inside out. Use the jet setting on my water hose and spray as much of the gunk out as possible. Then put them in an empty bucket and stump it with my feet. Rinse water out two or three time and hang up to dry. My wife doesn't allow me to use the washing machine for the sock.

It is a fact, cold water Neutralizes Bleach. Research it and you will find it is a fact.

Not sure I would want it in my washer either. Think of what is going thru your filters and possibly getting trapped within (yuk)

was mine out with a hose in the washtub an then into the washer with about a cup of bleach and hot water. I also set washer to have an extra rinse then air dry.
