Cleaning heater

So lets take me for example I have had my heater for a year and it is about time I debate replacing it why? Because heaters fail horribly. I will likely replace mine after the summer however. I had a heater on my freshhwater tank that died on the on state and the tank hit 97° farenheit and killed 3 fish of my 8. Now my I run an eheim heater on that tank that last 3 years minimum without cleaning. On my saltwater tank I have a titanium heater that I will eventually switch out.

I personally don’t but rather than risking vinegar, I would use RO water and a toothbrush

BRS titanium heaters come with instructions to brush off any deposits and can soak in vinegar or citric acid to get any hard buildup off, sounds like that should work for any titanium heater as well.
