I have a bunch of live rock that i took out of a reef tank because of pests.....it have been in a cooler with salt water in complete darkness for about 2 months now....the is alot of die-off and i wanna get it cleaned up and put it back in another tank....can anybody give me some good easy ways of cleaning it up.....i really dont have room to be boiling it and setting it out in the sun because there is not sun this time of year here...and the only way i have to boil it is in the house and not sure about the smell...the wife will not like that to much....open for better idea's....thanks

if ur tryin to boil it but can't do it in house maybe u should get one of those portable gas stoves and a big pot and leave it outside to boil since ur wife won't approve the smell. just a thought.

If you have a BBQ grill than a large pot on top of the grill. Do you have access to a propane tourch to heat it up?

I don't think there is any set time. Once the water gets to 212 degrees F nothing can really live. The object is to kill everything so u can't overkill them by boiling to long. Lol remember your gonna have some serious die off and I wouldn't put it in the tank for a while. you probably should have done that first before having it in the dark for 2 months. But hind site is 20/20
