I’m starting to notice a little bit of what I assume is algae in my mixing bin. Maybe it’s a bacterial slime. Who knows.

Whatever it is, would it cause problems for my tank or mess with the water parameters if I dump a bottle of hydrogen peroxide in the mixing bin and let it sit for a few days to “clean” it? I just mixed a whole bin worth of salt water. I suppose I could wait for it to be empty but that might take up to a month or so.

Am I right in assuming it will eventually just break down into water and oxygen?

Just use bleach or citric acid to clean it. Then rinse thoroughly and let dry before using again

Yeah it’s the “rinse thoroughly and let dry” part I’m trying to avoid :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:
I don't get it.. how big is the tank that hosing it out is a issue?

To answer your question, yes the peroxide will kill stuff then neutralize. But if you don't rinse, wouldn't it still be in there?

It’s not the size that’s the issue. Just the hassle in general. Way easier if I could just pour in a bottle of H2O2 and walk away. I just want to find out if this is a “work smarter, not harder” scenario. If not, then I suppose bleach and rinse is the answer.

This is what I’m working with

Ok this makes more sense. It looks like you used unions everywhere so that's good! I don't see pouring peroxide in as a long term fix. A little build up is most likely not a issue either. I imagine sooner or later a tub of sw will cycle if it's never sanitized
