Cleaning new tank

I just picked up a new 40 breeder and have to transfer everything over when I get home. Can I just use a little rodi on a rag to wipe the glass off and move everything over.

Sure...I would leak check it too though before you add pricey rodi or pricier saltwater. A tap water rinse will do ok too.

Thinking a bit more...a quick rub down of vinegar/acidic acid would take care of any oils and not add much time at all...especially if you do a tap water leak check after.

Does everything need transferring immediately or can it wait a few days so it can be cleaned thoroughly?

If you had a few days it would make sense to give it a deep clean first to make sure it's perfect for its new inhabitants! Who knows what's been in there prior to you getting it!
