Hello, just wondering if anyone uses vinegar and water for cleaning the outer glass and is it reef safe. At the same time if so, what is the correct amount, iv seen 1to 10 and 50/50 for windows.

Of course, Windex (real with ammonia) is unsafe but works best. I have rimmed/closed tops so I just stick the nozzle right on the glass, beneath the rim, and move across allowing it to run down the glass. Then I either just wipe it or squeegee it.

I use a 50/50 RODI:Vinegar but I've also just used Windex before. Both directly on the glass (very carefully) and onto a paper towel. The vinegar does leave streaks sometimes, I just wait till it dries completely and hit it with a microfiber cloth. Good as new

I think it is Fritz that sells an aquarium safe glass cleaner. Personally, I use RO water and a squeegee.

I honestly use foam glass cleaner. I spray my towel outside of the room then go clean the glass.

I use ethanol and haven't ever had an issue...I just don't spray the ethanol in the tank. No reason to complicate things with dilution here...I don't think many household chemicals can permeate glass or acrylic panels.

Just call it a day and spend $1 for a bottle of ethanol and a spray bottle. Mostly polar but slightly less polar than water so you get the best of both worlds.

I use lens cleaning wipes from Wally World. No aerosols and leaves a nice, streak free glass. I always have them around because I use them on my glasses. $5 for 100 wipes. Of course, I have a smaller size tank and this wouldn't be cost effective for someone with a big tank.

I will look into that! Thank you

While you can, I use simple tap water with a soft cloth or terry towel
