Cleaning outside glass

Is there something special i should be using to clean the outside glass of my tank? Im just using water and a dry paper towel, should i not use a glass cleaner?

Don't use glass cleaner you don't want the chemicals in your tank. I use white vinegar and water mixed in a spray bottle

My fiancée hates it but I just fill a washed out Windex bottle with Distilled white vinegar and use that. Works great for me.

What your doing now is fine, although Windex can be used too if you want. Just make sure none of the overspray gets into the sump/tank. Using this product safely is not a difficult task.

I've always used a small bit of Windex - but I don't spray it on the glass or near the tank. I spray it directly on the cleaning towel and then walk the towel over to the tank and clean the glass.

I just use a dry window cloth that I got at AutoZone. No liquid, just the towel. Works great.

Hydrogen Peroxide is the best glass cleaner . Try it. you'll like it

ive used windex for years. never noticed an issue.

I think Windex is just water, vinager, blue dye and a perfume. Save some money and just use diluted vinager yourself.

mr clean magic eraser always works awesome for me.

Mr clean erasers are a microabrasives. Be careful if you have acrylic.

sorry i should have clarified that my tank is glass and not acrylic. thanks for catching that. never even occurred to me what it could do to an acrylic tank

First pass gets the crud off the glass, but leaves behind smudges and streaks. Second pass cleans up the smudges. Simple and easy.

That's pretty much what i do now. Think I'm going to try the micro clothe i get at the auto parts store.

I've tried the microfiber cloths, but to be honest I didn't really like them. They left behind way more streaks, and left the glass much cloudier, than I get with a simple paper towel.
