I have about 30-40 lbs of sand I would like to use to create a DSB in my fuge. Thing is its sat in a tank with stagnant water for about 2 months. How is the best way to clean this so I can re-use it? I dont wanna have a huge bloom or anything but the tank will be fairly new, cycled water and all very cured LR going in it. Just wanna make sure the sand isnt gonna bomb the whole thing. Just pull it out and rinse it? Let it dry maybe then re-use?

Thoughts? Anyone do this?

I would just rinse it very good to make sure you remove any detrius shouldnt cause any problems I've used sand to set up some of my tanks that I'm sure was worse than what you have, without rinsing just a little gravel vac after setup and never any problems

Good deal, already got it in a tub and rinsed a lil bit. Gonna give it a lil better rinse before i toss it in.

Any recommendation on how to rinse?

fill a bucket about half full of sand, stick a hose with decent water pressure down to the bottom of the bucket, that should fluidize the bucket causing the crap to float out. oh yeah put the bucket in the sink so the dirty water can flow out

i was going to suggest the same thing :)

I have raised sand many times without any problems. Raise it well with lots of water. I have raised mine using the waste water from my RO/DI unit. This way I don't add to my water bill.
