Cleaning u tube on siphon overflow

The title pretty much says it all. I have a siphon overflow that is getting very dirty. You cannot see through the tube anymore. I was wonder how everyone who has one cleans theirs.

When I had mine, I used a toothbrush to clean it. I was not able to get the very top, but got most of it cleaned.

When I had them I used a bristle brush that would bend to go all the way thru. One of the reasons I went with one of these.
