New to the forum, I have a decent amount of fresh water knowledge, New to salt tho, I picked up a 90 gal used tank, and want to know what's the best way to clean it up? With out harsh chems. Of course? Any ideas thx

What do you consider "harsh" chem's? Before I would use a pre owned tank, I would give it a cleaning with muratic acid, but you can use plain vinegar, you just have to use more of it. Once any calcium deposits are cleaned, I would refill the tank with tap water, checking for leaks again, and add some bleach to sanitize.

yup. both of those. I start with undiluted white vinegar in a spray bottle. if it needs it vinegar water soak(leak test)/ then scrub. light bleach water in a spray bottle and let dry in the sun

Agree with above... let me add... Muriatic Acid is a strong acid. Be careful if you use it. Add Acid to water... don't ever add water to Acid. Meaning add water to the aquarium first then add Acid to water.

The last step is to allow tank the completely dry before adding fish water.

If you use HCl sold as muriatic acid, dilute it to about a 10 percent solution. When you dilute acid, add the acid to the water. Diluting acid liberates heat. The larger volume of water will absorb the heat.

Did on a 40g- used about 2-4 cups distilled vinegar and the rest tap water. Ran the return pumps for a couple days, scrub carefully using a sponge and air dry.
