Good evening R2R!

I bought a used set up and will be picking it up soon.

Should I deep clean the equipment and start my tank from a sterilized base point?

Or should I keep the sump/equipment as is to keep the bacteria?

As far as I know, the tank is still flowing until the day I pick it up and is only holding frags.

Thanks!

Do you get to see it first- with all livestock still in the tank? :) If you're quite happy the condition that everything is in, I don't see why a "deep clean" would be required.

That being said, I'd prefer to clean everything up all nicely and start from scratch! Part of the journey you know- and it limits the possibility of something nasty being in your tank..

With peoples questionable tank habits and the amount of parasites that could be hiding in it, I'd do deep clean. Nothing worse than getting a tank all set up and suddenly you find a parasite that requires a total strip down anyways. I like to know what I'm starting with. A new fresh build guarantees that I can keep an eye on everything that goes into that new tank.
