What is the consensus on cleaning tank equipment with tap water? I want to soak and clean some of my pumps and revivors.

Go for it. The amount of tap water you're going to introduce to your system this way is negligible.

I will use tap for the initial cleaning but rinse with RODI afterwards to wash away impurities like trace heavy metals and minerals. Or, I may use a towel to dry them as much as I can manually. A bit OCD.

I use tap water all the time for cleaning... but typically mixing it with vinegar, citric acid, or bleach.

I don't buy into the paranoia that a drop or 2 of remaining tap water will have enough impurities to destroy a tank.

I rinse with tap and let fully dry or final rinse with RODI if I want to use right away.
