Hello. I upgraded (?) my 65gallon glass tank to a new 125gallon Clear For Life acrylic tank 2 weeks ago. I am shocked at the amount of scratches that are on the new tank already! I understand that acrylic doesn't compare to glass, but this is crazy. I have had acrylic tanks before (JBJ, etc) and never got scratches. I am super anal about the cleaning products that I use. I got a new Mag-Float (for acrylic tanks) and have even inspected it with a magnifying glass to make sure there is no sand/anything else that would cause the scratches, but I feel like I can't use anything any more without scratching. Any one else have this problem?

I am in the same boat. Thought it would be a good idea to have acrylic but within the first few months there were numerous scratches. Even though most of people don't even notice them I know they are there and it's really bugging me!! No matter what I've used to keep the walls clean always end up with a few new scratches. My tank has been running for almost four years now and it's time to move to glass!!!!

Same for me! Most people aren't going to notice the small ones, but I have a couple now that are completely obvious. And this is only after 2 weeks! I had that JBJ for a couple of years and it never got a scratch (except when a rock fell against the side). I'll never buy acrylic again. :(

That is horrible! I bought a used 265 gallon a few years ago (no scratches). Then I noticed I put a few it. I was hysterical! I try so hard, but they show up every once in awhile. I know acrylic can be buffed out unlike glass, so all this time I thought acrylic was the better choice moving forward if I ever had to do it again. It sounds like maybe I am better off...

Use only ur hand to clean the acrylic that way u will feel if u have picked up sumthin gritty I know it sounds weird but it works n they also make plastic razor blades for the tuff stuff

With acrylic it's best to take your mag float out of the tank so nothing grows on it and scratch as you clean it. I used to have an acylic tank, but I'm not careful enough to not scratch them.
