My powder brown tang eats a TON, is active but looks very very very odd. First of all, I can see the veins in on its face, I see a bunch of dark lumps that are obviously its insides. I see its bones and spine through its pale skin. It has huge teeth and sometimes swims in circles. Its basically always looked like this.. Something is seriously wrong with it. It will stare at me through the glass without moving for 30 seconds. (For a test I hid behind furniture and all it did was sit there until it saw me and wanted food)

My tank has ich in the system. I will see a couple dots here and there but they go away and it doesnt seem to bother them so I dont think that could be the issue.

Also, where its supposed to have white on its face it has a light red. Sorry for all the comments

Post pics of your tang on the Fish Disease & Treatment forum asap. They can help diagnose and suggest treatment. The #reef squad will help.

I don’t see any pics??

Yikes! Any meds in the water?

Is it swimming in to powerheads?

It looks very emaciated with a large belly — is it eating? any white stringy poo?

No to everything except ive seen it swim near the powerhead like once. Its always looked like this (Even at store). It eats like a pig and poops normally.

It’s quite emaciated. I suspect you have several issues. I wouldn’t purchase a fish like this, it looks pretty unhealthy. :(

Color loss like this is often an indicator of velvet. Is it breathing quickly? Scratching? Flashing?

What are your water parameters?

Its fat but not like my other healthy fish, its only fat in that area you see around its belly.

Im going to do a fresh test of everything right now, might take like 15 minutes.

I have had it for 5 months. I have frozen fish frenzy, and seaweed and flake food. Ill admit I have been slacking off for a week or two and mostly feeding flakes and a bit of seaweed. They do also nip at the rocks.

Yeah, there was a little ammonia spike.. and I also just found the source. Big dead urchin in the sump. 0.25 ammonia levels
Preparing water change now

A cycled tank should never have any ammonia. How long has it been running?

8 months. I never have ammonia spikes and I test weekly - could a big dead urchin in the sump cause this?

Nitrates are 1
