I've been dosing sodium silicate solution for more than 11 years.

It clearly works to increase diatoms, and I think it helps sponges, but cannot prove that.

Does it help problem algae? I have no idea. I don't dose it for that purpose.

Started dosing nualgi a few days ago and now I have a clear stringy film Everywhere! I assumed it was just a bacterial bloom whenever I saw it in my sump but now it's everywhere. Is this normal?

I know exactly what this is...it's overdosing of good bacteria. I have had this problem in the past with more than one brand. It took me a long time to figure it out...and now you can see the answer on Korallen Zuct's (please excuse if spelled wrong) site and it describes this exact issue.

But Nualgi is not a Bacteria. It consists of Diatoms. So how does your answer apply?
